August 1st, 2017
One common question we receive is whether thermal receipt paper can be recycled, especially since it may contain BPA and phenol chemicals. The good news is that, in most cases, the answer is yes!
Why Thermal Paper Is More Environmentally Friendly Today
Recent advancements in the chemical composition of thermal receipt paper have made it safer and more environmentally friendly. All of POS Supply’s Thermal Receipt Paper Rolls are BPA-free, and we also offer Phenol-Free Thermal Paper (BPA-free & BPS-free) options in various sizes, colors, and quantities. How to Recycle Thermal Paper
Thermal paper can typically be recycled in the "mixed office paper" category of local recycling streams. It doesn’t require any special handling for waste disposal unless your local ordinances specify otherwise. However, avoid putting it in the general recycling stream or using it for home or community composting.
Important Note: Some types of thermal paper shouldn’t be recycled, so it’s best to check with your local recycler to see if they accept the material.
