Failed Credit Transactions Due to AVS


When paying with a credit card, security is a great concern. That is why most companies, including POS Supply Solutions, use Address Verification System (AVS). This system requires the person ordering verify the billing address so that the order can process.

If input incorrectly, the transaction will fail. This is the most common reason we see for failed credit card transactions on the POS Supply Solutions website.

It is important to note that when your transaction is declined due to an AVS failure, funds will NOT be removed from your account. AVS will place a hold on the authorized funds until the bank removes the hold. This process typically takes between 2-10 days.

What to do if you get a failed transaction due to an AVS mismatch error:

  • Verify the information you entered at checkout
  • If your billing address is different from your shipping address, make sure you have entered both
  • Has your address recently changed? Call your credit card company to verify the address on your card
