What Does my Epson TM-H6000 Need?

Last week one of our customers needed a ribbon for his Epson TM-H6000 printer but was unsure what was needed and was confused by his ribbon options. We figured, if they were having a proble, maybe some of you were as well so we outlined the solution below.

The top portion of this printers uses the common thermal 3 1/8” x 230’ roll paper, but it is the check scanner portion that was causing the confusion. This Epson printer uses two different ribbons. It uses an ERC-32 ribbon for the slips and it uses an ERC-41 cartridge ribbon for printing the check endorsement.

The TM-H6000 is a very unique printer. It is a multifunction point of sale printer with TranScan digital check imaging and is the only printer that allows retailers to take advantage of the benefits of electronic check conversion directly at the point of sale. This allows the merchant to process and capture a check image in one single step, cutting down losses from bad checks. To top it all off, the Epson TM-H6000 (or varients: TM-H6000II, TM-H6000III, TM-H6000IV) are Energy Star qualified.

Situations like this make for a great learning experience and allow us to continue to improve our cross reference database. If you are unsure of a paper size or ribbon, we urge you to refer to the POS Supply Finder which will help you find all the necessary supplies for your point of sale printer.
